Modifying GAM ad unit tags for Publisher distribution
Should you operate an advertising network and need to distribute or manage GAM ad unit tags, such as passback, with multiple publishers; we have developed a Chrome Extension that easily adds the Anonymised segments targeting criteria to the ad tags before distribution.
Installing the Anonymised GAM Ad tag Helper Chrome Extension
These are temporary instructions whilst the Chrome Extension is approved for inclusion in the Google Web Store.
Browse to https://bit.ly/anongamtaghelper .
Click on the Add to Chrome button.
A pop-up will appear, click on the Add extension button.
You will be advised that the Chrome extension has been added to the browser.
You may now pin the Chrome extension to your Chrome bar by following the Arrange extensions on your toolbar instructions
Using the Chrome Extension
The Chrome Extension will appear as a grey icon in the toolbar unless on the correct ad tag page within Google Ad Manager. You will also see a warning message in the Chrome Extension informing you that the host page is incorrect.
In Google Ad Manager, select and open an ad unit.
Click on the Tags tab.
Choose the tag type Google Publisher Tag.
Click on the Continue button.
Set up your tag with your required settings, making sure that you add a Page-level key values or Ad slot key values as follows:
Select the option Anonymised Segments (Anonymised)
Leave the select values blank [important!]
Click on the Continue button.
With the Tag results shown, click on the Anonymised Chrome Extension, which will now be coloured with our brand.
Click on the Adjust Tags button.
You will see the revised Ad tag code appear inside the extensions window.
Click on the Copy Tags button, to copy the revised code to temporary memory.
You may now send this revised ad tag to the publisher(s).
